It's Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas

For band director Mr. Fenske, Christmas starts months early. In his MS Instrumental Music class, students have been preparing Christmas songs for weeks. Most mornings, "Carol of the Bells" can be heard by trumpets proudly playing their repeated phrase. It is the prominent tune in their fun, but most challenging piece, "African Bell Carol." Many of the students have been playing their instruments for a few years, but others have just started. There is a good variety of instruments in the class that makes for a nice band.

Critical Thinking in History

In Mr. Hulse's United States History 1 class, students are beginning to look into the Revolutionary War. As a class they will be discussing the impact this war had, not only on our country, but the effect it had on the world. They will then look into the beginning of our country's government and will study specific rights that our newly formed government found important to protect.  It is exciting to see students engaging in their history: in studying the Declaration of Independence, they thought it was cool that our country was founded by traitors to the British throne.

If you are reading this, you have been able to find a peaceful moment in this hectic time. Peace and good tidings are so heavily talked about this time of year, yet so hard to capture. The events and preparations for the Christmas season so often overshadow the true reason for the season.

Experiential Education

St. Croix LUtheran students during Experiential Education at Eagle BluffWe are just a few weeks into school, and the students at St. Croix Lutheran Middle School have already seen what experiential education looks like. Each year our students travel to Lanesboro, MN, for a three day experience at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center. At Eagle Bluff, students get to experience the world around us, first-hand.

What is that Outside?

With the sun shining and the temperatures rising, the students of St. Croix Lutheran Middle School cannot wait for the Spring sports seasons to begin. Today marks the first event of the season. Our track team will be heading to Brooklyn Center this afternoon to compete against other local schools. Our golf and baseball teams will practice outside for the first time this year.
